Performance update for the CLS 63 AMG: along with the new E 63 AMG, the CLS 63 AMG Coupé and Shooting Brake models benefit from the latest model update. In its S-Model guise the CLS 63 AMG is also equipped with the
performance-oriented AMG 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system and features an AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine with a peak output of 430 kW (585 hp) and maximum torque of 800 newton meters.

The AMG 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine still leads the field in terms of efficiency: its combination of high performance and low consumption remains unmatched by any competitor in the comparative segment. Mercedes-AMG is now for the first time also able to offer high-performance passenger cars with an all-wheel-drive system specifically configured for dynamic driving. Customers are thus able to benefit from even more individuality of choice and a wider range of models. The performance-oriented AMG 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system splits the engine torque 33:67 between the front and rear axles. The rear-wheel emphasis of the torque distribution ensures that the car retains the excellent driving dynamics that are so typical for AMG, while still offering maximum driving enjoyment. In wet or wintry road conditions, the AMG 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system improves handling safety as well as grip.

Accelerating as it does from zero to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, the CLS 63 AMG S-Model effortlessly retains pole position among its competitors. Major contributory factors include not only the increased engine output, but also the performance-oriented all-wheel-drive system. Perfect traction during acceleration very effectively avoids slip-induced losses. Top speed is 250 km/h (electronically controlled). In the new S-Model, the AMG 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine develops a peak output of 430 kW (585 hp) and maximum torque of 800 newton meters – representing an increase of 20 kW (28 hp) compared with the AMG Performance package previously available as an option for the Coupé. The improvements in performance and power have been achieved by adapting the engine application, increasing the peak injection pressure and raising the charge pressure from 0.9 to 1.0 bar.

Now with 410 kW (557 hp) and 720 newton meter, even the basic model has gained 24 kW (32 hp) and 20 newton meters. For all their added power and enhanced performance, all models continue to impress with their exceptional efficiency, modest fuel consumption and low exhaust gas emissions.

The CLS 63 AMG S-Model can be differentiated from the other models from the outside by its red-painted brake callipers and by an AMG logo on the boot lid with a letter "S" offset against black. When it comes to the interior, only the S-Model – depending on customer requirements – offers grey contrasting top stitching on the AMG sports seats, the door center panels and the armrests in the doors and center console. Silver seat belts are also included as part of the interior appointments in conjunction with a black interior. The AMG Performance steering wheel in black nappa leather, with flattened rim both top and bottom, is finished in Alcantara® with grey contrasting topstitching in the grip areas. The front head restraints of the AMG sports seats incorporate exclusive, embossed AMG emblems. The redesigned AMG instrument cluster features an "S AMG" logo in its 320 km/h speedometer, together with red trim highlights. White-illuminated AMG door sill panels provide the final touch to this exclusive package of appointments.
